While Nuclear Medicine has grown over the last several years, the
camera technology has not. Most cameras available today require
care providers to operate under the same constraints they did 25
years ago.
Conventional imaging systems…
- Only have 2 analog detectors that are NaI based and fixed at
90 degrees
- Have detectors that are larger and less manageable
- Require manual set-up with the technologist inputting
patient data and acquisition parameters
- Does not offer a Quality Control check for patient/dose matching
- Non-selective, general FOV acquisition
- Detectors rotate around the patient, or patient chair rotates
the patient
- Take 12-20 minutes for a Gated SPECT acquisition
